Winter viruses and how to prevent them

Winter is a season that increases the chances of contracting viruses such as the common cold and flu.

Lower temperatures and limited ventilation in enclosed spaces contribute to the spread of viruses. To boost our immunity and prevent viruses, it is important to follow some simple strategies.

Proper nutrition plays a key role in strengthening the body's defences. Vitamins, such as vitamin C and vitamin D, help the immune system to function more efficiently. Foods rich in these vitamins, such as citrus fruits, green vegetables and fish, should be regularly incorporated into our diet. 

In addition, vaccination is one of the most effective ways to protect against serious viral infections such as the flu. Vaccines boost the body's immune response, reducing the severity of symptoms and the chances of complications. 

Regular exercise, good hydration and adequate sleep are also critical to our overall health and the prevention of viral infections. By preventing illness, we protect not only ourselves, but those around us, ensuring a healthy winter.
